Why I Sell on Etsy~ It's all about De-stash!

This is my second reason for selling on Etsy.

I had never heard the term Destash until I started selling on Etsy.

Destash refers to the process of liquidating your stashes.

A detox for hoarders.

What I have are lots of stashes.

Things I bought, mostly at Estate Sales, thinking that I might make something with them
 or
thought they were interesting/intriguing/fun/different/appealing.

More than 150 old I Ching Coins

My tastes run in two directions.  First, simple, ordinary things AND, second
things I've never seen before.

90 or so old Package Handles

But, whatever it is I always buy in volume, if possible.

A hundred old Pin Nibs

All that adds up to many stashes now being destashed on Etsy.

Around 50 Bulldog Clips

These are photos of things I have destashed in my first 6 months on Etsy.

Two dozen old Souvenir Spoons

Maybe over time all of these things could/would have sold at shows, but think of the packing, unpacking,
hauling, displaying, and hoping for the right person to stop by my booth to buy them.

Hundreds of Matching Empty Sewing Spools

Now,  all of these things, some of which I had hundreds of, are gone and happily
living all around the world.

Hundreds more Matching Sewing Spools with Thread

I like to say that they are again "Seeing the Light of Day" instead of hanging
around my basement languishing.

Gobs and Gobs and Gobs of Keys

As these collections are destashed... other collections are peaking out of their
previously hidden locations.

Come by anythinggoeshere.etsy and see what I am destashing today.

Vintage Halloween Blog Party

Welcome everyone to the 2010 Vintage Halloween Blog Party.

I love hosting these Vintage Holiday Parties. This party completes a whole year of being a hostess. I started with Vintage Christmas almost a year ago!

It has given me an opportunity to meet many lovers of vintage and to see hundreds of wonderful holiday treasures. Hopefully you have enjoyed yourselves too!

I have sold most of my vintage holiday decorations over the years, but I still have this full size vintage skeleton that came from the Estate of a local school teacher.

Here he is hanging on my front door.

I have recently sold this vintage black cat key holder, but Halloween means black cats to me so I wanted to share it.

I took it right off the kitchen wall at an Estate Sale. Isn't it cute???

Now it is your turn to share your Vintage Halloween Treasures. Keep in mind that this is a blog party to share your ViINTAGE items. Be sure to visit the other participants and leave comments so they know you have been there.

Here are the simple instructions to link up to the party:
* just copy/paste the web address of the specific blog post, not your blog home page.
* add a title of the project in the appropriate box.
* choose the best picture so we can easily see what you have to share.
(it will give you an opportunity to choose a picture when you are linking up)

AND

I request that you link back to this post in your post or on your sidebar:
That way more people can come and join the party!!
Use Mr. Skull, and copy the address of this post and add it to top or bottom of your post and/or sidebar.

ENJOY!

And A Classic Farm Auction

Last weekend in addition to going to one of my favorite Church Rummage Sales, I also attending a rarity in Lake County, Illinois~ a Farm Auction.

And not just any old farm auction, a farm auction of a 96 year old lifetime auction devotee who over the years bought everything.... and I mean everything... that other people didn't buy at every farm auction in the area.

I controlled myself. I ONLY stocked up on two of the staples of my etsy shop.

Vintage clothespins of all kinds.

Vintage zinc Ball jar lids.

AND... I enjoyed going to the auction more than just the shopping.

I went for the restful farm atmosphere. lovely autumn weather, great farm wife food stand, and informed and interesting farmer bidders.

My maternal grandfather and great uncles were all farmers in Indiana so I loved everything about this day in the country!
