let the games begin...

even with all the estate sales i have gone to
over the years i had never come across
a really neat stash of vintage games.

until last week.
i was invited to a private estate sale
where i was able to purchase a stack of
1930's and 40's games.

i will be listing them on etsy from now
through the holidays.

the perfect time for old retro games.
don't ya think?

this is the first.  a neat late 1930's ten pins game with
all the pins and 2 balls.

available at anythinggoeshere.etsy.

and to finish yesterday's post about my trip to the "letters and numbers" guy...

i now have 5 boxes of vintage letter and number decals.
i just have to figure out how to sell them.

and lastly, several people contacted me asking
whether i was going to list the lab glass on etsy.

the answer is yes.  i just have to get it, and myself organized.

why my garage will NEVER be empty....

in addition to this box of old number and letter decals
i bought 6 boxes of lab glass at the flea market yesterday.

beakers, beakers, beakers everywhere.

and this morning i am off to see what else the "number and letter guy"
has from an old hardware store cleanout.

i love everything about this old metal box of letters and numbers
including all those tabbed dividers and the red box itself.

while i am out shopping come by and take a look at what
i have added to anythinggoeshere.etsy.

2011, The Year of the Brush.... continues

i am poking around in all the hidden corners
in my workspace.

and yes, i found another vintage brush...
a pretty magnificent brush at that.

a neat, big vintage wallpaper brush with
great "brush presence."

it could be the centerpiece of your
brush collection.

folk art wire egg basket

i think i am finally recovered from the weekend.
and even though i was in elkhorn wisconsin most of the weekend
i did make it to a private estate sale of a local folk art collector.

where i bought this wonderful vintage folk art basket.
made in the style of traditional egg baskets.

this would be about a two dozen egg size,
but with a twist.

it is woven from bright blue and yellow wire.
and beautifully and meticulously woven at that.
folk art perfection.

Started with a Scale, Ending with a Scale.

Thank you so much for all the Birthday Wishes.

I spent my birthday going to Estate Sales, of course.

I started the week with a scale and
I'm ending the week with a scale.

This one is from an Estate Sale last weekend
of a Scale Collector.

The sale included 20 or so old scales.
Mostly the big traditional kind that were very
expensive, but I got
several smaller, more unusual ones.

This one from West Germany is my favorite.
I love the face, its deco styling,
and that tiny platform that you are supposed to
be able to put something up to 25 pounds on to weigh.

Available at anythinggoeshere.etsy.

Yep, that's me!

Today is my birthday and
I don't mind at all telling you how old I am,

but I thought we could have some fun with it.
I have some easy clues involving some very famous people
so you can figure it for yourself.

If I was 15 when he was born
I could be Barack's mom.
(It's his birthday today too.)

AND
I am 5 years and1 day younger than
Martha Stewart.

How old am I today?

Yes, you guys are so smart and
know your math too.
I am 65!
