Getting the best of them....

I decided today to take some GLAMOUR SHOTS of my JUNK...in other words...

some close-ups that only show this junks' best parts.

It is amazing what a macro lens and a bit of photo editing will do for JUNK!

The Florist's Estate Sale

Yesterday I went to a Florist's Estate Sale that is going on in Winnetka, Illinois. Several of my readers wanted to know what I bought.

Some nice old jars and 24 old strawberry pin cushions. And a tin sunburst mirror.

Ribbon, of course.

Lots of old glitter. Look at the interesting containers.

A nice selection of flower frogs and a cute little wire cart planter!

And wool gloves~ this is exactly what I wear all winter. Now I am set for many years to come.

What is your favorite? Or would you have left all of it behind?

"The Piles Project" Progress

My 2009 procrastinating started after a successful spring season of Curbside Shopping {aka: Picking The Trash}.

I started fixing everything up on as a project {Lose the Piles} on August 16 with the goal of having everything done by the time the snow flies!

Above is one of 3 main piles in my garage at the start.

This numbered drawer dresser my favorite completion, and a favorite with my blog readers.

This white cabinet is the one project I did to keep.

This little green table is the only thing that hasn't sold.

That all these projects {and some more not pictured} are done and sold is The Good News.

Before I started fixing things up I couldn't see this shelf because of the piles in front of it! That is also Good News!

Oops! Here is The Bad News. This is an AFTER picture. I still have my work count out for me to finish before the snow flies!!!!!

A Little Touch of Black

I have a customer who has a future retailer for a daughter.

We'll call the daughter "Sarah". "Sarah" and I have had many decorating discussions over the years. When she grows up she says she is going to have a store called "A Little Touch of Black"

....because "Sarah" says with her 11 years of decorating wisdom that "Every room needs a little touch of black!"

This post is in honor of "Sarah".

Do you agree with "Sarah" that "Every room need a little touch of black"? Why?

The Keys To Your Castle

I love the trend of wearing JUNK as jewelry!

I have had a spool of "ball chain" for about a year, and recently I found out that it is easy to find the end fasteners...

So I have a ton of JUNK to make into jewelry...starting with these old Estate Sale skeleton keys...Oh, so fun for Halloween!

Is this a trend that you like or don't like? Let us know what you think.

White Wednesday

One of the fun things {actually probably the ONLY fun thing} about cleaning out THE PILES in my garage...

is seeing what is behind them. Here is a second White Wednesday post about what I have uncovered.

Sea fans, giant clam shell, star fish, and deer horns inside of an old green terrarium...

White metal "Flower" flower frogs. The metal flowers were put inside a vase ~ and then the live flowers were arranged around them...using the metal stems to hold the arrangement in place.

Look at this poor old deer. He is so old he now has a white face just like our beloved old dogs.

Don't you wish they still would give you the bushel baskets when you buy apples at the orchard? I love the bushel baskets almost as much as the apples...a paper bag is just not the same.
