mummified. easy peasy halloween decorating.

mummify that pretty little dress form
you have hanging around the house
by just wrapping her with cheesecloth.

my cheesecloth happens to be dirty old estate sale cheesecloth,
but you can easily grunge up new hardware store cheesecloth
with a brief tea bath.

add a dollar tree skeleton necklace, stick her on the porch, and
she is ready to scare all the little kiddies
 in your neighborhood.

adding new things at anythinggoeshere.etsy.
come by for a visit.

p.s.  last weekend i mummified my last 4 dress forms
and sold them all.  sometimes it just takes a little
        something extra.

mcclelland barclay lily pad bookends

sunday i was out before the sun was up poking around my favorite
parking lot flea market.

this is the kind of place where display is a blue tarp on the ground.

then i spied these beauties.  the vendor and i made the deal
and i was on my way.

i thought they were nice, but it turns out they are really, really nice.

i couldn't find out anything about them on the internet and
i couldn't read the maker's mark.

i was stumped until i decided that those are water lily leaves.

then it all came together.

they were designed by mcclelland barclay (1891-1943) around 1930.

he was an very well known new york illustrator,
as well as a designer of jewelry and decorative items.

i hate doing research.  i am "a buy it and sell it" kind of girl,
but this Monday morning tracking down information about these bookends was fun.

well, back to work on listing the items i am going to sell.

it was a busy weekend at le shop, anythinggoeshere.etsy.
come by for a visit.

look at those gray hairs.  who could they belong to?????
