Merry Christmas and keeping it real.

I am sitting at my new computer desk this morning
working on my Etsy shop.

No matter how hard I try, my desk area always
has a "work a day" look to it

instead of a "magazine ready" look to it.

But I love having the computer in its own spot
in the kitchen
and off the dining room table.

Notice my red and green "decorating"!

Merry Christmas, Everyone!!!!

{by the way that neat magnetic file holder is from
The Container Store.  It is easily attached to the
wall and holds the files I need to run my shop.}

Here is a better photo of all the hats I am selling
through my etsy shop.

They were featured in a book about collections...

And the bed is also for sale.

If you live near the northern suburbs of Chicago and
are interesting in the bed, send me an email.

This is the latest straw hat I've added to the shop.

a wee glimpse of my new work table.

Here is our old kitchen display table in its new
location with its new sturdy Ikea base.

Ready to start its new job as my work table.

Here is table in its old kitchen location with its old "iffy" base.

I am glad it never collapsed during the years we used it to
hold up 500 or 600 hundred pounds of stuff.

Continuing to repurpose our stuff for new uses.

the unvarnished truth.

This is what it looks like when you declutter each and every room....
AND you get down to the LAST room.

All the stuff that has been decluttered from every other room
is NOW in THIS ROOM.

We have already started working in here.

The bed is OUT and you can see the corner of
my NEW worktable.

But all of this pile will have to go somewhere.

I'll keep you posted.  Right now I am sort of
overwhelmed and not sure where it's all going.

This is going to be my new workroom.

And I am going to take my product photographs here too.

I think the next step is to make little piles out of that
one big pile.

What would you do?

progress... a simple display.

Many of you know that I have been on a
 major destash and declutter campaign.

For 7 years.... yes, 7 years... this table held my computer
and all the assorted "junk" that went along with running an
online business.

You couldn't see the nice pine table top.  And, of course,
no one would eat dinner here.

The chairs had been moved into the basement to make more
room.

Fast forward.  Now it is empty with just one simple display.

Ready for diners.

The computer is in it's new spot.

I have a brand new storage/office wall in the kitchen.

Photos coming soon.

For now I am just enjoying the open space and
the simple life.

the blank slates....

I am decluttering.

This table has not been empty
for 7 years.

AND the new storage/office wall is installed.

I am so happy that I am giddy.

Ah, blank slates!

Watch this space.

I know it is just a blank wall,
but it has taken me a couple of weeks to get it this way.

Old display and table OUT, repainting, adding missing moldings and changing
the "painted over" electric plug.

The old display cabinet was donated to the local thrift shop where it is
getting a lot of attention, and the table will be repurposed
in another room.

Next week we start the redo.

Stay tuned.

Plans are in the last post, if you are interested.

What's going to happen to the blank wall.

The Container Store storage/desk wall is going
to be where the table.... below....  is.

I was going to paint the wall a bright color,
but my samples didn't look good
with the yellow wall right around the corner.

I've decided to add color using our
"stuff."

If you have thought about using an elfa wall in your house
they have great design services both onine and in the stores.

You'll see this table in a new location soon.

gone, gone, gone. all my vintage chalkware sheep are gone!

They are all gone.

Sold and sent off to new homes.

This post is my tribute to the sheep
that decorated my mantle for over twenty years.

I know they will love their new lives.

I will always remember them fondly.

empty from full... the cabinet is closer to the door.

The cabinet is off the table and closer to being gone.

That doorway on the left side leads out the front door.

It looks kind of interesting here, but there is a fireplace
behind it so that won't work.

And here is the kitchen wall..... empty.

The table is getting a new home in another room.

We have ordered the wall storage unit that is going here
so i have to work on the floor moldings and paint this wall.

By the end of the month we should be done.

See what it took to get to a blank wall by checking out
my last few posts.

Sometimes "undecorating" is a good thing too.

more photos of my primitive white cabinet~ gone

Here are more photos of the white cabinet I had for sale.

Now it is empty.  See last post for how it looked full of stuff.

Now it is gone.  Let yesterday afternoon.

Friday, November 7, 2014

Primitive, shabby white cabinet was on the curb.

We are adding a wall of storage in our kitchen.

So we are donating this cabinet to the
local hospital thrift shop.

That seems only fair to me since we got it free
off the side of the road.

It will be fun to be able to look at it here
since it was picked up yesterday and the wall
will behind it will be totally transformed in a couple of weeks.
