Seamstress Sisters Estate Sale

Last weekend I went to the first GREAT Estate Sale this year. It was in the home of two Seamstress Sisters who moved in together later in their lives.

They did ALOT of sewing over their two lifetimes. I could tell by the quantity of everything sewing related.

There were so many interesting things see. I think I started hyperventilating, and I didn't know where to look first.

Here is one of the things I bought.

A basket full of rolls and rolls of partly used seam binding. I bought it all.

I often use seam binding for my products and in my displays. I was able to buy colors that aren't even available anymore.

On the way to the car there was a discarded bundle of yard clippings so I picked it up. I hoped the buds would open and flower.

Well, they opened, but it looks like they will only be green~ no flowers, but they look springy anyway.

Have you been to any great sales this spring? The sales are just getting going here. The one that looked the most interesting for next weekend was just cancelled. BOO!

Come visit the wonderful and inspiring posts of my Vintage Easter Blog Hop. Several of the participants posted about Vintage Easter things I have never seen.

Birds of a feather~ Could they really be related???

Birds, eggs, and nests are some of my favorite things.
Last spring I was all about "reproducing" nature for inside my home.

Here are some nature-scapes made during this phase.

What a difference a year makes.

This year I am all about "Fantasy Birds."

These are birds I'd like to see in MY trees when I look out the kitchen window.

NO birds in nature EVER wore crowns or looked like these. They make me happy! I hope seeing them make you happy too.

Here some links to things I've made. These are currently being featured by Beyond the Picket Fence,Room to Inspire, 24Seven and Chippy! Shabby!.

It is such an honor to be featured on the blogs of these talented women. Thank you all so much!!!

"Sweet and Simple"

Something very simple for Easter, and the rest of Spring.

These are inexpensive thrift store eggs covered with spun-thread~ similar to the 70's Christmas ornaments. As I get busier outside working in the yard I like to keep my inside decorating simple.

Also~

I am hosting a Vintage Easter Blog Hop! Please stop by and see lots, and lots of Vintage Easter Treasure Posts.

Not Your Mother's Easter Eggs...

When decorating for Easter and Spring, I know you're ready for more than colored eggs in an Easter basket.

The eggs in the first three photos are boxes...

Covered with bits of French writing. I added snippets of hand-dyed seam binding, blanket edging and some old pearly jewelry...

Below are some giant eggs {8 inches long} with more French writing, vintage ribbon, and old silk millinery flowers.

For a long time I saved these ribbons and flowers for something special. I am glad I did.

Eggs aren't have to be just for Easter anymore. Birds, nests, and eggs can work with all your Spring decorating.

For other eggs and nests I made for spring read the next post.

Other inspiring spring projects are linked to this week's daily blog parties listed near the top of my sidebar.

The soft colors of spring

Aren't these the perfect match~ the soft pastels of spring and EGGS?

The eggs are plastic from the thrift store ....

Altered with tissue and French graphics.

Embellished with flowers and gems from a thrift store wreath. The funny thing is that I sold just this kind of wreath when I had a store.

Then into a nest with shreds of a early 1800's book.
