a fixture until recently... sheep on the mantle

The first 4 photos are from a Midwest Living Magazine
article, October, 1999

showing my vintage chalk sheep collection on the mantle.

Above is a photo taken earlier this year.

Northing much had changed,

Now.  The sheep are off the mantle and up for sale.

This little guy is the second one looking for a new home.

what's on my front door now~ vintage canvas and leather tool bag.

This morning I added a little touch of autumn
to the front door.

Yesterday I painted the back door this same green
so now they match.

It is a soft, sweet green called

1892 gable piece and out with the sheep.

More cleaning up and decluttering.

This 1892 gable piece has always hung over the fireplace and
it was displayed in my previous home too.

It is from a house in LaPorte, Indiana.
I have never known who or what
D.B. is.

Maybe the homeowner or maybe the builder.

For over 20 years this mantle was lined with vintage sheep.

You can see some of them below,
but now the display is much simpler.

AND easier to clean which is the main point
of all this rearranging.

I will be listing all the sheep for sale in my etsy shop.

If you are interested in them, please check my shop or
email me.

before and after...

Until recently the display next to our couch was
this one~ domes and "stuff" on a 1800's blue blanket chest.

Big changes are coming...

Now that display is gone and it
has been replaced by a much simpler display.

Easier to clean and much smaller.

While I loved my domes and "stuff", there are other big changes
coming to this room that leave no room for them.

As you can see in the background, the clock is the only
thing that is still there.

Stay tuned for more rearranging.

The domes may all be up for sale next summer in my
Antiques and Vintage Sale.

I am cleaning out my collections.

Send me an email if you are local and want to be on the
email list.

in a sea of white....

I have a secret.  I do not own ANY white furniture.

I have always loved american country painted furniture
so almost all my furniture pieces have old painted surfaces.

I bought this dresser in an Indianapolis, Indiana
antique mall about 15 years ago.

Since I bought it, the dresser has been in a spare bedroom
until a couple days ago.  Now it is in our family room.

It is like a "sample piece" of old grain painting.
Each drawer is painted in a slightly different style of
mustard and brown graining.

There is a reason that I am moving my furniture around
and I will share the reason in a later post.

For now I hope you enjoy looking at my "not white"
