In a 1940's Cape Cod house with a detached clapboard-sided garage.
Only locally advertised, run by the family with the long time owner in attendance.
With a basement with crocks, benches, worktables, and clothesline with clothespins. The "old time" basics of life.
Plus low attendance and a relaxed atmosphere.
I had blue Ball jars on my wish list. Their color is the "2010 Color of the Year."
The old basket was a surprise bonus.
I have had several of these over the years. They were meant for heavy duty work. The owner's son and Mr. Anything Goes Here carried all the jars to the car in it!!!!
What kind of sales or finds make your day?
That would pretty much make my day too!! Glad you had a good time!
ReplyDeleteHi Joan... What a great find... We have had crummy weather, so no good sales for me, the forecast looks good though, next weekend I am gonna be so ready :-)

Hey Joan! I have an award for you, if you're willing to accept! See our Monday post. xo
ReplyDeletewhat a lovely find...I love old jars (my post today is about them)...beautiful photo!
ReplyDeleteThat would be my kind of sale too....relaxed! I hate feeling pressure these days! I must have hundreds of blue Ball jars in the basement! Time to drag them up and wash them!
ReplyDelete:)
That would have made my spring! : )
ReplyDeleteI love sales like that.
Church sales, and Farmers estate sales... why? BECAUSE THEY KEEP EVERYTHING! Then sell it super cheap to get rid of it. I got 2 big brass blade Emersons fans that the church bought in 1929 that STILL work! for less than $5, looks like you made out like a bandit!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking for a little more eurotrash this summer ... harder to find that's for sure
ReplyDeleteSee, this is why people love basements or become hoarders. (Sorry, attics don't cut it with me, not climate controlled or as easy to get to.) I got rid of a bunch of my ball jars several years ago, just no room.
ReplyDeleteThat basket is huge and looks to be in great condition, if it successfully carried 2 doz. glass jars! I'm impressed and jealous.
That sounds perfect...we just don't find that kind of sale here. I love the color of the jars!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great score...love the way those jars look in the basket!
ReplyDeleteNice find!
ReplyDeleteLove the basket, Joan. It looks very pretty with the jars in it and pretty sturdy too if it carried all of them...Christine
ReplyDeleteWish I could have joined you in person this trip. You made some great finds.
ReplyDeleteBlue gold I tell ya, blue gold. Sea Witch
ReplyDeleteWhat a great find.
ReplyDeleteJoan, You hit the mother lode! Is there anything so simply cheerful as a blue ball jar? You've got the magic touch. Love, Penny
ReplyDeleteI started collecting the blue ball jars, but haven't come across any lately. You did hit the jackpot! Yeah You!!!
ReplyDeleteJoan we would have a ball togther..pun intended. I came across an entire box of the blue babies at a yard sale back in 2002.
ReplyDeleteNot even the screw top but glass latch & when I asked how much & each she said 25...a bit crestfallen until she said...so $3.00 for all 12. Best Actress for Not Dancing & revealing how cheap her find was...yup me!!!
I still have 4, I actually have filled them over the years & given them away, including to my now 11 yr old Godson Grant..his filled with marbles.
Congrats!!!
Isnt that blue just dreamy! love it.
ReplyDeleteI adore that basket, it is tres belle.

Don't you just love a "great find". There is something so satisfying about bringing it home and finding its purpose. So enjoy reading your blog!!! Cheers, Susan :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful find! I can just see the jars perched on a sill with the sun shining thru or filled with flowers. The basket was a great find as well. You hit the jackpot on this one.
ReplyDeleteThose are so awesome!!! Love it!!
