My Stone aka. Marble Fruit and Country Living Magazine: Part 2,

Several readers emailed and asked me to post the article about my Vintage Marble Fruit in Country Living Magazine.

So here it is from Country Living Magazine, November 2001. It is from the front of the magazine where Country Living features collections.

You can click on the picture, and you might be able to read the article.

Google knows Stone Fruit as Marble Fruit so I am using both terms in this post.

Google says Stone Fruit~ American Country antiques dealers say Stone Fruit. They are the same thing.

A couple of notes about the photos. All the fruit is Vintage Stone Fruit.

The pear slice is a rare oversize "Split" in Vintage Stone Fruit vernacular.

The chickens are handmade wooden weather vanes from the top of a farm shed. The shed was on one of the last farms in the town of Lake Forest. The farm was sold and divided in the early 1990's.

The yellow bowls are old yellow ware.~ another of my collections. The fruit and these bowls are on a 1790's blue pewter cupboard.

Next I will be showing you more photos from my collection. And I will be sharing some photos from my readers of their collections.
Do you have any questions about Stone/Marble Fruit?

  5. I've been a faithful reader of CL since the late 80s, and I actually think I remember this article! It was probably the last article they did on what I call true country decorating. The magazine is a little too modern for me now, but I still love it. You have an amazing yellow ware collection too! I can't wait to show my sister this. She decorates in the primitive style, and has only one yellow ware bowl, but hopes to make it a collection some day!
    Happy Monday!

  6. What a beautiful collection of stone fruit! I am glad you are going to sharing more photos from your collection. The fruit looks great in your beautiful collection of yellow ware! I am with Carol above, I much preferred the old CL to the new one.

  11. Right after I'd read this post I was at an antique mall and lo and behold, there was a beautiful big Fenton Silvercrest/Spanish Lace bowl FULL of stone fruit, all for $50! Just one problem--the bowl is Fenton, I knew that already, but the fruit turned out to be Mexican alabaster fruit (plastic stems and leaves). It's still beautiful though, although I can't believe it was sitting in that beautiful delicate glass bowl! So I'm still on the lookout for the real deal.
