There were so many interesting posts I think I will do a couple "favorites" posts. My favorites aren't based on THE best~ it is more what I connect with when I am reading them.

Vintage Christmas Monday~ Number 3

{These are chalk/plaster sheep from large size nativity scenes. I have collected them one or two at a time over the years. They are on my mantle all year round.

Above them is a gable piece from a house built in LaPorte, Indiana in 1892.}

Couch Cover to Heart Ornament

This is a tale of a couch slipcover...

Bought by me many years ago at the thrift shop...

used for many years on the couch until another better thrifted slipcover came along...

thrown in the corner of our basement for at least 2 years~ REALLY!

put into black plastic bag for trash 2 days ago...

pulled out of trash bag yesterday by Mr. Anything Goes Here to put under snowblower to change the oil...

rescued again by me, cut up, and this morning getting a new lease on life by becoming ornaments.



I can see a use for almost anything! How about you? Do you have trouble throwing things away?

A Few Favorites from Monday's Vintage Christmas~ Week 2

First, some Vintage Christmas fun facts from my past:

In the 1950's my parents owned Sherrick's Home and Garden Shop in Beverly Shores, Indiana where they sold the kinds of items that are being featured in the Vintage Christmas Monday's posts.

I went with my mom to Ben's Wholesale Supply Company in Chicago many times while she shopped for product. The first time I was barely tall enough to peak over the table tops at all the sparkly and glittery things! It was heaven! My love of Christmas stuff started right there!

My dad had a spray booth in our stockroom to flock real trees. Mostly white, but sometimes PINK. I loved the pink trees best!

I started helping Christmas customers when I was 10 years old for 10 cents an hour~ and, yes, I had to keep track of my hours on a timesheet.

The variety of the posts were amazing~ unique, sweet, fun, heartwarming, clever, sentimental and LOL. They had it all.

{This is my Christmas tree from last year with many of my vintage ornaments. I have my Grandmother's, my Mom's and my own collection gathered over 40 years.}

The Last Vintage Black Friday

For our last Vintage Black Friday {I will miss this blog party} I want to share something unusual that I recently bought from the estate of a retired upholsterer.

It is tin and cone-shaped.

IT has a hole in the top and wonderful graphics.

Do you know what it is?



It is filled with tacks which professional upholsterers poured out into their mouths and then spit out to use tacking upholstery onto furniture.

Yikes! Makes me nervous. How about you?

White Wednesday~ Vintage Glove Forms

After they gave up their careers as Glove Formers...

Now they are holding up jewelry...

A Few Favorites from Monday's Vintage Christmas

While visiting the participants of Vintage Christmas Monday yesterday I was struck by the love and care that people took in their choices and the writing of their posts.

It was clear to me that this blog party inspired people... bringing back fond and joyous memories of their's and other's past Christmases.

Thank you so much everyone who participated in and visited our first Monday Vintage Christmas party.
