Silver Sunday~ Number 2
As I mentioned in last week's Silver Sunday post, I don't use much silver in my decorating so I went out this week to the thrifts to find some. And I found all of these silverplate boxes for a couple of dollars total....Now what? What would you do with them?
I can see why I don't use silver. I am stumped. But, you can find the other far more clever Silver Sunday participants by clicking on the sidebar button!
I like those. But I'm the same way, I have trouble doing something with them. I have a few pedesal ones I like alot.
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday!
Hi Joan
ReplyDeleteWell I must say I love silver anything... especially cutlery and teapots of which I have a few now... but with these as they are latticed [open style] I would fill them with something that smells wonderful .. flower petals, or cinnamon sticks etc.... and just have them placed around the house for 'smell appeal'.. Happy Silver Sunday... xxx julie
They are all so lovely. You could put wrapped chocolates in them and give them as Valentine's gifts. Happy thrifting! Tammy
ReplyDeleteI'm going shabby nuts over them...valentines candy, easter eggs etc etc etc. Love them!
ReplyDeleteI don't have much silver either but I am with the others... put something in them and give them as gifts! Have a blessed day!
ReplyDeleteHi Joan,
ReplyDeleteI sure like the big silver tray underneath! As far as what to do with them, um, I'm not sure. I have a feeling that you will come up with something. They are pretty cool looking.
hugs~~Sissie
Oh, my, I LOVE these! I'm the same way. I have a difficult time accessorizing but I'd use them to put soaps or hand towels in for the bathroom. I'd have all sorts of uses for them in my workspace I'd use them for ribbon, buttons, holding sticky pads, so many things! They'd also look lovely sitting on your dresser!
ReplyDeleteWONDERFUL finds!!
Happy Silver Sunday!
((Hugs))
Lovely silver containers ... I see my idea has already been mentioned, I would fill with candy for some special Valentine's treats!

ps. I purposely did not cast a vote for either Valentine ; )
I do love the patina here ... not to shin-y
ReplyDelete..I have an array of small miniature silver cloche lids ...they look adorable mashed under a glass dome (cloche)
OR ...I tie small goodies such as this onto gift bags ... they are light and airy and not too heavy ... I love to mass like items...to ME ...these look great just as you have them ...all sitting together. NOW if they were shin-y brite, I'd say take thembcack to the thrift shop ... hehe
Hi Joan-
ReplyDeleteI love your boxes and I would do nothing more than cluster them together somewhere- unusual, or how about in your bedroom or a bathroom?
They are lovely,
Laura
These are just lovely - I would just group them in a display as you have done - they look great on the tray.
ReplyDeleteHow sweet, Are they candy containers, mints maybe? I just love them grouped together for impact. Have a wonderful SS.
ReplyDeleteDebra
What a fabulous find. I love them all. I love the tray and the boxes are just wonderful. I would just display them as a collection with some on the tray and others on a pedestal or other trays. They are all so intricate and just lovely. Great find. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely, intricate little boxes. Very pretty!
ReplyDeleteI don't have much silver, either..my post today has only a tiny bit. Thanks for sharing yours.
Joan these are so lovely....I love how you have grouped them and the candy idea is a one! The tray underneath is really great!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the rest of your weekend!

I am not a silver person either but I have to admit those look pretty good just the way you have them. Maybe I would like it.
ReplyDeleteI have a whole bunch of those little silverplate boxes myself, I just stick odd-and-ends in 'em.
ReplyDeleteI could always use a few more if you'd like to divest yourself of a few. ;-)
Have a great Sunday!
Anne
Oh, I think they look nice just as you displayed them....all clustered together.
ReplyDeleteWhat a terrific find! I know exactly what I'd do with these. I'd fill them with candy and use them as place favors at a dinner party or luncheon for my girlfriends.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing. Happy Silver Sunday! ~ Sarah
See now, I love silver and have it everywhere. It is like my neutral.
ReplyDeleteThat collection is so cute, my first thought was to hang them on the wall. You know, like people are hanging platters and such? They look pretty just like you have them though, clustered together!
How about adding some white sea shells to the ones without tops...it would be a beautiful contrast with all of that silver!

ReplyDeleteI don't use much silver either... I like to buy silver things and spray paint them LOL
ReplyDeleteSweet little boxes for a tiny treasure. Sometimes it takes a while before the idea hits ya. But your crafty brain will be working even when you don't know it.
ReplyDeleteBe sure to let us know.
Happy SILVER SUNDAY ;-)
Such a sweet collection of silver baskets. Darling vignette...shelia
ReplyDeleteI love them just like they are but all the suggestions of giving them as gifts (do you need my mailing address???) is wonderful. They really are so sweet and you can't go wrong whatever you decide.
ReplyDeletethese are so sweet...I would put shells, candy, tea bags, tiny bird nests, easter candy or little decorated eggs, sachets...a little sewing kit...home-made soaps, guest soaps,or how about filling with little slips of decorated paper with loving thoughts written on the inside to be opened on a daily basis...how about a sweet little traveling craft container filled with tiny buttons, slips of ribbon, small scissors, snippets of lace and other types of daintys. How about filling the container with small office supplies such as paper clips, a tiny stapler, litte decorated stick um notes and a small decorated pen. How about cough drops and a small get well note...the ideas are endless.
ReplyDeleteI love bunches of things or how 'bout place setting favors? They're really adorable! Thanks for playing today....see you next Sunday...

I am a big Mercury glass fan...and tarnished silver. Thanks for the shout out on the Paris trip. I have an award for you on my blog...Your paper flowers are exquisite and they are inpsiring...
ReplyDeleteThe little silver boxes are very pretty - I love 'em! I think I would either use them as little gifts filled with something sweet or if you can't part with them, filled with something that smells wonderful. They would look darling on a night stand, even as a little favor for an over night guest. Great find!
ReplyDeleteHave a beautiful new week...Kathy
Wow...the comments are as fun as the post this time. I never really liked silver and gave all of mine (from wedding gifts) to my mom. Along comes blogging and tablescaping and now I'm actually looking for silver pieces now and then.
ReplyDeleteSue
great little gift baskets... YUMMY silver and such a find...TFS Happy Silver Sunday!
ReplyDeleteJoan,
ReplyDeleteWhat a deal you got on the beautiful little boxes! I like them all together the way you pictured them. It makes a beautiful display.
Have a wonderful week!
Sincerely,
Melinda
I AM JEALOUS....I just love them. I would pile them all in an old glass fih bowl. Since they are small....they would make charming tree ornaments. Or the best thing to do would be to send them to me. You could have a give-away and make sure I am the winner. :)
