Silver Sunday~ Number 2

As I mentioned in last week's Silver Sunday post, I don't use much silver in my decorating so I went out this week to the thrifts to find some.

And I found all of these silverplate boxes for a couple of dollars total....

Now what? What would you do with them?

I can see why I don't use silver. I am stumped.

But, you can find the other far more clever Silver Sunday participants by clicking on the sidebar button!

  2. Hi Joan
Well I must say I love silver anything... especially cutlery and teapots of which I have a few now... but with these as they are latticed [open style] I would fill them with something that smells wonderful .. flower petals, or cinnamon sticks etc.... and just have them placed around the house for 'smell appeal'.. Happy Silver Sunday... xxx julie

  6. Hi Joan,
I sure like the big silver tray underneath! As far as what to do with them, um, I'm not sure. I have a feeling that you will come up with something. They are pretty cool looking.

  7. Oh, my, I LOVE these! I'm the same way. I have a difficult time accessorizing but I'd use them to put soaps or hand towels in for the bathroom. I'd have all sorts of uses for them in my workspace I'd use them for ribbon, buttons, holding sticky pads, so many things! They'd also look lovely sitting on your dresser!

    WONDERFUL finds!!

    Happy Silver Sunday!

  9. I do love the patina here ... not to shin-y
..I have an array of small miniature silver cloche lids ...they look adorable mashed under a glass dome (cloche)

OR ...I tie small goodies such as this onto gift bags ... they are light and airy and not too heavy ... I love to mass like items...to ME ...these look great just as you have them ...all sitting together. NOW if they were shin-y brite, I'd say take thembcack to the thrift shop ... hehe

  10. Hi Joan-

I love your boxes and I would do nothing more than cluster them together somewhere- unusual, or how about in your bedroom or a bathroom?

    They are lovely,

  20. See now, I love silver and have it everywhere. It is like my neutral.

That collection is so cute, my first thought was to hang them on the wall. You know, like people are hanging platters and such? They look pretty just like you have them though, clustered together!

  29. these are so sweet...I would put shells, candy, tea bags, tiny bird nests, easter candy or little decorated eggs, sachets...a little sewing kit...home-made soaps, guest soaps,or how about filling with little slips of decorated paper with loving thoughts written on the inside to be opened on a daily basis...how about a sweet little traveling craft container filled with tiny buttons, slips of ribbon, small scissors, snippets of lace and other types of daintys. How about filling the container with small office supplies such as paper clips, a tiny stapler, litte decorated stick um notes and a small decorated pen. How about cough drops and a small get well note...the ideas are endless.

  32. The little silver boxes are very pretty - I love 'em! I think I would either use them as little gifts filled with something sweet or if you can't part with them, filled with something that smells wonderful. They would look darling on a night stand, even as a little favor for an over night guest. Great find!

  33. Wow...the comments are as fun as the post this time. I never really liked silver and gave all of mine (from wedding gifts) to my mom. Along comes blogging and tablescaping and now I'm actually looking for silver pieces now and then.

  36. I AM JEALOUS....I just love them. I would pile them all in an old glass fih bowl. Since they are small....they would make charming tree ornaments. Or the best thing to do would be to send them to me. You could have a give-away and make sure I am the winner. :)
