Simply Lovely...

I picked these about a week ago as buds, and they have taken their own sweet time to open!

Can't you just smell their distinctive fragrance, and see that tiny touch of red?

Part of my love for them is that they are so fleeting. One heavy rain, they are beaten down, and gone until the next year.

  5. Hi Joan,
Thanks for stop by. It's great to find a new blog and especially one as beautiful as yours. I left a comment a little while ago but my computer started acting up....so I guess it's out in cyberspace somewhere.????
I love your white peonies and just found one of our new ones flowering called Angel Cheeks...white with a little pink. Your right. Their only downfall is they don't last long enough but they reliable come back every year. Sooooo take lots of pictures of them so you can look back at them all year long.
    See you again soon,
    Carole

  12. Peonies are one of my two favorite flowers. The other one is freesia. I had white ones last summer that I enjoyed SO much. I bought them at the grocery store of all places and put blooms in little white containers I had. I enjoyed them SO much. I also love the pink ones, but the white are just so special.

    Happy Outdoor Wednesday...

    XO,

    Sheila :-)

  20. As a teenger I did not understand the importance of ants to the opening of peonies.

Upon finding our peonies swarmed with the little critters I sprayed them with ant spray. My poor mother nearly had a coronary!

I love that bit of red in these.
