Vintage Halloween Blog Party
Welcome everyone to the 2010 Vintage Halloween Blog Party.
I love hosting these Vintage Holiday Parties. This party completes a whole year of being a hostess. I started with Vintage Christmas almost a year ago!
It has given me an opportunity to meet many lovers of vintage and to see hundreds of wonderful holiday treasures. Hopefully you have enjoyed yourselves too!
I have sold most of my vintage holiday decorations over the years, but I still have this full size vintage skeleton that came from the Estate of a local school teacher.
Here he is hanging on my front door.
I have recently sold this vintage black cat key holder, but Halloween means black cats to me so I wanted to share it.
I took it right off the kitchen wall at an Estate Sale. Isn't it cute???
Now it is your turn to share your Vintage Halloween Treasures. Keep in mind that this is a blog party to share your ViINTAGE items. Be sure to visit the other participants and leave comments so they know you have been there.
Here are the simple instructions to link up to the party:
* just copy/paste the web address of the specific blog post, not your blog home page.
* add a title of the project in the appropriate box.
* choose the best picture so we can easily see what you have to share.
(it will give you an opportunity to choose a picture when you are linking up)
AND
I request that you link back to this post in your post or on your sidebar:
That way more people can come and join the party!!
Use Mr. Skull, and copy the address of this post and add it to top or bottom of your post and/or sidebar.
ENJOY!

Between some very nice Estate Sales and my favorite Sunday morning Flea Market the shopping last weekend was very, very good. And these 7 old carnival shooting gallery targets have to be my favorite find.
I just had to show them to you!
I'm trying to decide which one is my favorite. It might have to be that running rabbit. How about you?

And A Classic Farm Auction
Last weekend in addition to going to one of my favorite Church Rummage Sales, I also attending a rarity in Lake County, Illinois~ a Farm Auction.
And not just any old farm auction, a farm auction of a 96 year old lifetime auction devotee who over the years bought everything.... and I mean everything... that other people didn't buy at every farm auction in the area.
I controlled myself. I ONLY stocked up on two of the staples of my etsy shop.
Vintage clothespins of all kinds.
Vintage zinc Ball jar lids.
AND... I enjoyed going to the auction more than just the shopping.
I went for the restful farm atmosphere. lovely autumn weather, great farm wife food stand, and informed and interesting farmer bidders.
My maternal grandfather and great uncles were all farmers in Indiana so I loved everything about this day in the country!

A Classic Church Rummage Sale
Last Thursday I attended a local church rummage sale that is one of the biggest in the country.
It has a special place in my heart for a second reason in addition to it's size. It was the first church rummage sale I ever attended more than 30 years ago when I moved to the Chicago area.
This year didn't disappoint.
This dome is huge. It is 12 inches in diameter and 18 inches high.
Imagine me getting it out of the church through crowds of people without breaking it.
And a second smaller vintage dome to add to my "It's all better under glass collection."
Lastly, I got this nice group of metal flower frogs.
Like me, do you have special vintage shopping locations that bring back especially fond memories?

Troweling my way into autumn!
Where did summer go? I have been busy since the middle of July selling items from my long time collections through my Etsy shop.
And I think I missed summer.
Last week I sold both my front and back door metal wreaths so this is what I came up with to put on the front door.
But I don't know how long it will last because it is also is for sale at anythinggoeshere on Etsy.
How about you? Are you ready for autumn?

Halloween Love Potion Bottles~ A Tutorial
I had a little itch to make something for Halloween this morning, and I was thinking about love... ah, love, sweet love ...
I had taken down my rolled paperback book wreath from the front door. I had just found some bottles at an Estate Sale so a project was born.
This bottle with the cork top was perfect.
First I ripped the paperback book rolls off the wreath... not very carefully and filled the bottle. (As you can see, or not see, you really don't even need to have anything in the bottle.)
Next I hunted up some witches on the internet, printed them and added a label "Ancient Witch Spells for Love Potions" and "Drink Up, My Pretty!"
Then I used my distress ink pads to "Dirty Up" the label and scrunched it up into a ball. Flattened it out again and glued the label onto the bottle with a glue stick.
We're almost through. I took some stained material I had down in the dungeon and dirtied it up more, glued it on the top and bottom. Tied a another dirty piece around the top to finish it off.
Now comes the really fun part. I lit a candle and dripped it all over everything. I loved that part. But you might be able to see that I accidentally lit the fabric on fire. Oops!
Reminded me of why we shouldn't play with fire! Be careful!
The type is one that came with my computer called "Cracked".
Did you enjoy the tutorial? I haven't written one in a long time, and I am out of practice!

A Good Kind of Mold
The first Church Rummage Sale was a bust! Nothing. Nada. But, oh but my heart beat a little harder when I found these gems at the second church sale.
So very, very sculptural, so industrial, so old, and so perfect together.
See them here, anythinggoeshere.
