I know it may seem like a small step toward dealing with all the furniture piles in my garage....
but I haven't even seen my worktable since about April... much less been able to WORK on it....
NOW at least I have a place to work... and it is fun to look at, too. I missed it...
{The foot. What do you think it is? Answer at the end of the post.}
hiding behind all of that stuff in the next picture. Even that is better organized than last week. See all the bookshelves lined up back there waiting for their redos.
Here's a question to self: Why did I think I needed 30+ chairs to redo...??????? {Very, very hard to store and stack neatly.}
{Answer to "The Foot" question: The foot is someone's plaster art class project. It is big, very stylized, and has an Art Deco 1930's look.}
I'm already watching.. and learning.. and impressed by how CLEAN your workdesk is.. lovely! I havent' seen my dining table in a few months. It is drowning under magazines and DVD's. Maybe you will inspire me to cleanup
ReplyDeleteHave a great one.. x Julie
Snow? What about that foot? What's up with that? I'm impressed and jealous....I think it would be easier for me if I just got a dumpster...feeling overwhelmed by my own mess and very hopeful that if you can do it...so can I?
ReplyDeleteHey Joan 2 things...no, make that 3...1st & most obvious...the FOOT! where on earth, or elsewhere, did you get the foot? More importantly, what do you plan to do with the FOOT??! 2nd Have you tried hanging your chairs from the rafters, if you've got 'em...or think Shaker "hang up the chairs on the wall after supper". my Mom collected chairs to re-cane & when Dad threatened to have a massive bonfire in the backyard w/ them, cause he couldn't get into the barn, she hung 'em from the rafters. 3rd If you send us all a map to your house,:o} I'm sure we could "help you" with your struggle to be organized! :o} You have an amazing work room with awesome stuff...gets the creative wheels turning just looking at the pics. Have a great weekend *elaine*
ReplyDeleteLookin' good!
ReplyDeleteLove the foot!

Your work table looks fabulous and I love the cloche. I can't wait to see what you do with it for the cloche party on Sept. 11th. Be sure to join us. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteI can only imagine how good that must feel to get your work table cleared off! The one in our garage is covered in junk, AND I can't even get near it, because of the junk on the floor in front of it. Why do we live like this?!
ReplyDeleteOh good luck...hopefully winter will be forgiving and give you a little extra time..I cannot wait to see all this come to life...what a fun adventure
ReplyDeleteYou are making progress! Looks great! It must make you feel ready to tackle a new project!
ReplyDeleteYou are making progress. I had to clear my dining table to make room for dinner last night.
ReplyDeleteGreat work space! Looks great. Lucky you!

Snow snow stay away, WI is a little nippy this week but I am not giving in yet. Boy could I use some of those pieces you have good luck I am cheering you on.
ReplyDeleteLove your worktable and your very organized space there. The flowerpots really grabbed me. It's nice seeing and hearing about other peoples garages...good to know I'm not alone out there in my sea of wonderful junk!
ReplyDeleteDebra
If someone couldn't find inspiration in your work area, they'd be lacking the inspiration gene.
ReplyDeletePleasant weekend!
Julia @ Drawn to the Sea
Looks like such a great place to get to work! The foot would be inspiration alone :).
ReplyDeleteLoved discovering your blog.. You are a scream. You put a smile on my face..hope you're having a super Saturday..hugs ~lynne~
ReplyDeleteYour worktable looks great! Don't you get inspired to start a project when it looks ready for one!!
ReplyDeleteLove those bookshelves. I'd have a blast playing with them!!

It looks like heaven in there! That is exactly what I'd like to do with my empty Shop(closed my Paper Arts store last summer but still own the building)-of course my husband has other plans.
ReplyDeleteHow fun would it be to put that foot under a bed(or a sofa)-sticking out enough to make people wonder?? LOL-I'll be watching your progress.
You have really been working to get so much done on your mess. What you have finished looks very nice and a big improvement. Do not overdo it and work too hard.
ReplyDeleteWish I could come help you out. Looks like fun to me...now that I can finally see some of it! LOL Great job!
ReplyDeleteI'm actually not junking today, I'm painting furniture for my new space at the shop (more on that later on the blog). Anyway, while doing it, I had an epiphany: I don't like painting furniture. I'm too impatient, I want it to look good after just one coat and it NEVER does. So I'm letting things dry, having lunch and checking in with my blog pals. Hope your sale goes really well tomorrow!

You know what I really love about your craft space is that I didn't see any plastic bins! It's an unavoidable item but I just hate the way they look. All your old shelves and containers look wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI was a chairaholic for awhile til I realized I had way to many. I've gone cold turkey!!!
i love your workspace!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great!!
ReplyDeleteI'm working against the weather clock too, also in the Chicago area. My ToDo list always seems so long but somehow it all gets done!
ReplyDeleteBut 30+ chairs is a tall order! Good luck!
30 chairs? Yikes! I am loving seeing everything you uncover in there
ReplyDeleteOK, give me 10 minutes in your garage! I see some treasure! Hee hee hee. Love the work table - really nice! Linda

I don't have near the room a garage would have, mine is one small bedroom....but it seems that once a week I have to go in and clean, rework the storage, and move things around....but with luck I can always find my work table! And I only have ONE chair to redo...have fun and thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeletePam
Lookin' good!
ReplyDeleteWow! Very neat and organized...I am jealous!...Christine
ReplyDeleteGood luck!!!
ReplyDeleteRegards from Chile, South America,

Love how nice and neat you made your work space! I have so many "to-do" piles that need to be done!
ReplyDeleteAnd our garage finally has been cleared enough to drive my little mini in! (courtesy of my wonderful hubby... he is so diligent at getting through the boxes in the garage!... his only request? that I let him do it himself...otherwise, I tend to think "aw...that could be used for..." or I'll get all sentimental with the "but that was so-in-so's. from "you-know-who", "way-back-when"...
...so, I willingly let him have at it... :o)
You are a talented and determined woman to be able to re-do all your wonderful finds!
Blessings & Aloha!
Why are work tables always buried! It's because we are so creative. I want to see what you do with the foot.
ReplyDelete-Angela
Yay for unearthed work tables! I know what you mean...I have one covered as I type!

ReplyDeleteJeannie
PS I am visiting via Kellies Friday show and tell
What a fun place to play!! (err, I mean, work:)
ReplyDeleteI can see how all that coolness can get out of control and cover a space real quick! Great job:)
I think those first 3 photos would be pretty framed and hung on a wall.
ReplyDeleteMama Bear
Thanks for participating in GET R DONE FRIDAY! If you would mention my meme and post the picture at the top, it might be help me get the word out and hopefully gain new participants each Friday! Great photos - love the foot!
ReplyDeleteMmmmm ... wouldn't it be fun if we each could "have a go" at each others' workrooms? You know, just to wander around a bit ... and laugh at the same "stuff" we have and oooh and aaah at the special bits.
ReplyDeleteYour workroom looks lovely ... but I know the "lovely look" and "place to be productive" are not necessarily the same.
Have a good day and Hugs!
Betty :)
I should let my husband see this post. We don't HAVE a garage, which annoys him . . . but now I can show him what would definitely happen to ours, if we had it. I, too, would fill it up with orphaned furniture.
ReplyDeleteCass
