Hey, you turkeys!

See these wild turkeys drinking from the muddy puddle at the side of the road? They are not "wild" at all....



Their home is a large Estate on the shores of Lake Michigan! If you could see through those trees behind that lovely field behind them, you would see some of the most beautiful Lake Michigan shoreline in Northern Illinois. Here is more about their home, Crabtree Farms.

These turkeys have the lush life, and yet they continue to cross the road, in traffic, trying to hang out in a little strip of woods along a railroad track. But who ever said turkeys were smart, huh?

    so cool! i live in minnesota, and i do see wild turkeys occasionally. i love seeing them, i have never been able to capture a good photo of them!

    I have only seen wild turkeys a few times. The only tame ones I've seen have been white. Thanks for sharing.

    I work for the railroad and many many turkeys just love to hang out by the tracks...wonder why..waiting for that one piece of grain to come out the box car.. lovely picture.

    My husband would go crazy--he's a turkey hunter! I guess this has all kinds of "why did the turkey cross the road" possibilities :)

    I love watching turkeys...there are some that live on a farm right by our house. They just do the goofiest things!

    haha! somewhere I remember hearing that turkeys are so "smart" that they've been known to try to catch, with their mouths wide up, rain falling...and have been known to drown that way. hm...wish I could remember where I heard that!

    And that Ben Franklin suggested that the turkey be the official United States bird. how fun!

    I think I'll have to talk turkey on a future post...

    I once heard that turkeys are so stupid, they drown while trying to drink falling raindrops. Is that true?

    Hi there. Loved the pictures of the turkeys. We are starting to see a lot more of them around here in the last couple of years.
