Hey, you turkeys!

See these wild turkeys drinking from the muddy puddle at the side of the road? They are not "wild" at all....

Their home is a large Estate on the shores of Lake Michigan! If you could see through those trees behind that lovely field behind them, you would see some of the most beautiful Lake Michigan shoreline in Northern Illinois. Here is more about their home, Crabtree Farms.

These turkeys have the lush life, and yet they continue to cross the road, in traffic, trying to hang out in a little strip of woods along a railroad track. But who ever said turkeys were smart, huh?

  12. They look like they are enjoying themselves. Funny, isn't it? They have all of that space and yet they have to go just a bit further.

  16. haha! somewhere I remember hearing that turkeys are so "smart" that they've been known to try to catch, with their mouths wide up, rain falling...and have been known to drown that way. hm...wish I could remember where I heard that!

And that Ben Franklin suggested that the turkey be the official United States bird. how fun!

I think I'll have to talk turkey on a future post...

    Blessings & Aloha!

*I hope you get a chance to visit my Beach party :o)*

  20. I once heard that turkeys are so stupid, they drown while trying to drink falling raindrops. Is that true?
Delicious with a large mound of buttery mashed potatoes.

Just a couple of weeks ago I saw a whole family of them crossing the street in front of me. Thanks for the post and I look forward to being a new "follower" of yours!! : )
